Membership Outline

This category of membership is for motel owners and operators, who are eligible to gain access to a wide range of exclusive services, savings and useful information. You will also be kept up to date with the latest tourism news and developments. You'll receive our quarterly MANZ Edge publication covering news about people, events and analysing topical issues. Once you are a full member of MANZ you can also gain special access to the Member News section of the website so that you can have information sharing and networking resources available to you, via the Internet, 24 hours of the day.

The general running of your motel can present a perceived minefield of laws, regulations and business issues. That's why we offer advice to members on issues such as:

* entering the motel industry: training, information and contacts and the lifestyle change involved;

* purchasing and leasing motels: issues to watch for and access to MANZ-accredited motel brokers;

* operating your motel: the association's Motel Operator's Handbook (otherwise known as the Blue Book) is an important aid in helping moteliers in their business. It is essential reading for all moteliers, whether recent entrants or experienced, and is available to members at the concessional price of $35.00 (GST incl.) while non-members pay $55.00. * employment advice;

* insurance: access to accredited agents who offer special packages to MANZ members;

* tourism trends: from data obtained through Statistics New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand.

The MANZ web site was completely upgraded and revamped in 2000 to focus maximum effort on showcasing and promoting MANZ member properties via the Internet. All new MANZ members have the exclusive opportunity to obtain a FREE page on this site within six months of joining MANZ. The commercial return from this benefit alone will pay for your membership many times over within your first year of membership, and beyond.

The MANZ web site is also an excellent facility to help members in operating their properties. There is an exclusive Member News section which contains a variety of useful information, for example, a range of sample Individual Employment Agreements which comply with the Employment Relations Act 2000. The web site also features a Bulletin Board which allows any MANZ member to network with others, share ideas, and seek guidance on any issues they may be facing.

These printed publications are supplemented by our weekly electronic newsletter eMANZ NewZ, which contains "cutting edge" updates and news as it happens. This has proven an enormous success with the 91% of our membership that is on email.

MANZ also has an exclusive alert system that is used to transmit urgent Police messages and warnings to all MANZ members, allowing them to take steps to protect themselves or their properties and their businesses from individuals who are either sought or operate at the fringe of the law.

Fee Structure

The annual subscription for full MANZ membership ranges from $247.06 (including GST) for properties with 1 unit, to $458.75 for larger properties of 9 or more units.

Membership of MANZ - Nelson Branch

The cost of membership of the Nelson Branch is currently $50 per property and $10 per unit
